AGENT 86 / URBAN NAVAHOS Split EP (1994)

Mis à part les kilomètres qui séparent ces 2 groupes, rien d'étonnant que de les retrouver sur la même galette : testes politisés sur des thèmes communs comme la défense des minorités, goût prononcer pour le mélange des genres.
Côté Agent 86, 3 titres de la période "Just say no", donc un punk plus mélodique que lurs premières productions tendance hardcore.
Un rock-punk-reggae-dub-fusion (rien que ça !!) chez les parisiens de Urban Navahos pour 2 morceaux forcément plus mi-tempo.

Not so surprising to find these 2 politically charged bands mixing punk and reggae on the same release.
Melodic punk-rock from the period of the "just say no" album for Agent 86.
Urban Navahos from Paris is playing a more mi-tempo punk-dub-reggae music (or something like that !).

Groupe punk HC formé au milieu des 80 au chant fortement influencé par les Dead Kennedys (ce qui peut expliquer la sortie de leur 3ème album sur Alternative Tentacles) ou Das Klown.

BAD RELIGION - Rare Covers Bootleg 7" (1995)

Sorti dans le milieu des années 90, ce 7" contient en fait 4 titres enregistrés live en 83 et 84.
Si l'on regarde la discographie des Bad Religion, cette époque correspond à la sortie de l'album "Into the unknown" qui porte tellement bien son nom, les californiens s'étant essayés à un genre de rock progressif qu'ils regretteront vite (à cause d'un échec commercial ?!!).
Ceci étant dit, on s'étonne un peu moins de retrouver ici 4 reprises bien loin de l'univers de Bad Religion, à savoir des titres de Led Zeppelin, R.E.O. Speedwagon, Chuck Berry et le Louie Louie de Richard Berry.
Et malheureusement, à part rajouter que le tout est desservi par un son pirate dégueulasse, je crois que tout est dit. Hormis le caractère archive de ce 7", il y a certains cadavres qu'il ne faudrait jamais ressortir du placard...

Nothing to add except that all these crappy songs are harmed by a really poor quality sound...
... to listen one time and then to forget very quickly !!

2 fers-de-lance et 2 seconds couteaux de la scène française des années 90 pour cet hommage aux australiens.

Si les Seven Hate et les Greedy Guts ont jeté leur dévolu sur 2 grands classiques, le choix des Sixpack semble plus surprenant avec la reprises de l'anecdotique Stairway to Punchbowl. 

Les Hole Process quant à eux, clôturent ce 7" avec une interprétation plus que personnel de Ache to touch you.

PUFFINS - Ready made alienation MCD (1996)

Après deux démos sous le nom de Out Of Order, le trio caennais devenu quatuor sort ce MCD autoproduit en adoptant le nouveau patronyme de Puffins afin d'éviter tout amalgame avec la tripoté de groupes homonymiques (si si, ça se dit...) mais également pour marquer le coup suite à l'arrivée du second guitariste.
Résolument tournés vers le 90's melodic HC, les 6 titres reprennent la recette de leurs précédents efforts, gros riffs de guitare, chant agressif mais mélodique, changements de rythme bien pensé. Bref, un groupe qui fut bien trop éphémère, ce qui explique sans doute qu'il n'ait pas eu à l'époque le même retentissement que ses grands frères Seven Hate ou autre Burning Heads...

Following two demotapes under the name of Out Of Order, the four pieces band from Caen released this MCD in autoproduction by changing their name to Puffins because of the tons of bands with the similar name and to mark the occasion of the second guitarist's arrival.
90's melodic HC with an agressive but melodious vocal, they splitted up too early to obtain the same notoriety than the similar bands like Seven Hate or Burning Heads...

GAUNT - Sob story LP (1994)

Peut-être encore plus sales que les New Bomb Turks à l'époque, les Gaunt proposaient ici un premier album résolument garage-punk comme Crypt Records les aime. 
Son lo-fi à souhait, réverb outrancière sur la voix, guitares qui trainent et le tout mixé de façon aléatoire... mais quelle énergie au final !
